The Rowing Fitness TestBrand new test that determines gym users AerobicFitnessLevelsFollowing the release of the most reliable and easy to useaerobicfitness test - The Multistage Fitness Test (also known asthe'bleep test') – sports coach UK now bring you a new fitnesstestusing an indoor rowing machine.Developed by sports coach UK, the lead agency for coaching intheUK, the Rowing Fitness Test app is designed to give gym usersandpersonal trainers a quick and easy measure of aerobicfitness.Rowing has become a very popular form of physical activity,aswell as a competitive sport. Rowing ergometers can be seen inmostgymnasia and provide a whole body workout requiring the abilitytosustain a high aerobic capacity. An incremental maximaloxygenuptake test (VO2max test) provides the best indicator ofanindividual’s aerobic fitness. VO2max has also been found to beavery strong predictor of 2000-metre rowing performance.This test works when a person incrementally increasestheirstroke rate until the desired stroke rate cannot bemaintained. Thestroke rate is controlled by a series of bleeps.These bleeps startslow, but get progressively faster. The rowerstops when theycannot maintain the desired stroke rate, and thetime at which theystop provides a good indicator of their maximaloxygen uptake(20-50ml/kg/min).The Rowing Fitness Test app includes written instructions andavideo demonstration of how to use the app, and a tableexplainingthe results.
